The Netherlands is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It is a parliamentary democracy organized as a unitary state. The Netherlands has a moderate maritime climate, with cool summers and mild winters.The number of sunshine hours is affected by the fact that due to the geographical latitude the length of the days varies between barely 8 hours in December and nearly 17 hours in June. Although a small country in size, Holland has a big international presence. It is the 21st largest economy in the world. Some of the world’s big multinationals, including Philips, Heineken, KLM, Shell, ING Bank and Unilever, are Dutch. In addition, companies such as Sony, Sara Lee and Microsoft all have their European headquarters in Holland.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The main requirement for admission to a bachelor’s programme is a secondary-school diploma at the appropriate level. This level is set by the institution. For admission to a master’s degree programme, you must have at least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent. It is essential that you speak, read and write English well. You must have passed an English language test. IELTS and TOEFL are commonly accepted, but institutions may accept other tests as well.

STUDENT VISA ENTITLEMENT

1-YEAR STAY BACK

After graduation from a Dutch University, foreign students are allowed to spend a period of up to1 yr in the Netherlands in order to find a job as a highly skilled migrant. The Dutch government stimulates international Bachelor’s and Master’s students to start a career in the Netherlands after graduation by offering a residence permit for a search year. This permit is valid for twelve months and gives you free access to the Dutch labour market.
